1. Passport/Travel Documents.
Before heading out on a tropical vacation, it’s important to make sure that you have all of the proper documentation necessary for travel. This includes your passport, driver’s license, visa if required, and any other documents related to your trip. Be sure to double-check expiration dates and make copies of all documents.
2. Accommodations.
When traveling to an island, it’s important to determine where you’ll be staying throughout your trip. You may choose to stay in a hotel or resort, rent a house or apartment, or even couch-surf with a friend or family member. Be sure that your accommodations are comfortable and secure before booking so that you can have a stress-free vacation.
3. Vaccinations.
Depending on the destination, it may be necessary to receive certain vaccinations before traveling. Research any required vaccinations beforehand and make sure they are up-to-date prior to departure.
4. Money & Credit Cards.
Bringing a supply of both cash and credit cards is important for any trip. Make sure to bring enough money to cover all of your expenses throughout the vacation plus some extra in case of emergencies. It may also be wise to convert some funds into local currency so you don’t have to worry about exchanging it when you arrive.
5. Clothing & Accessories.
Island travel requires packing quite a bit of clothing, swimwear, and accessories that are suitable for the weather and activities at hand. Bring lightweight items such as shorts, tank tops, sandals, sunglasses, hats, etc., that can help keep you comfortable in the heat and humidity. Pack an umbrella or raincoat just in case it happens to rain during your stay.
6. Toiletries & Medicine.
Toiletries such as toothpaste, shampoo, lotion, and deodorant are essential for any trip. You may also want to bring a small first-aid kit containing bandages, antiseptic wipes, sunburn relief cream, antihistamines and other over-the-counter medications.
7. Snacks & Drinks.
While it’s always fun to try the local cuisine when traveling, you may find yourself in need of some snacks or drinks while out exploring the island. Pack an assortment of quick snacks such as granola bars and trail mix that can be easily grabbed on the go. Also, make sure to bring a reusable water bottle and a cooler with beverages such as juice and soda.
8. Electronics & Chargers.
Your island travel checklist should also include any electronics that you plan to take on the trip. This includes cell phones, tablets, laptops, cameras, and chargers for all of them. Be sure to pack all items in waterproof cases or bags if necessary.
