1. Language Development
Students in kindergarten should be able to identify, recognize, and write the alphabet in both uppercase and lowercase letters. They should also be able to read simple words, as well as begin building their vocabulary with grade-level appropriate words. Additionally, they should be able to communicate effectively using complete sentences and understand the basics of grammar and syntax.
2. Mathematics
Students should be able to recognize numbers up to 20, as well as count objects in a group. They should also understand the concept of addition and subtraction, measure items using standard units and compare sizes.
3. Science
Students should be able to identify and investigate living things, their environment, habitats, and life cycles. They should also have an understanding of physical science concepts such as matter, energy, force and motion. Additionally, they should be aware of changes in the sky such as day/night cycle or different types of weather patterns.
4. Social Studies
Kindergartners should be familiar with basic rules of social behavior and be aware of their role in the community. Additionally, they should be able to identify different types of communities, understand the importance of laws and recognize symbols and landmarks related to their state or country.
5. Creativity & Technology
Kindergartners should develop creativity skills through various activities such as music, art, dance, theater and more. They should also become comfortable working with computers, tablets and other forms of technology to access information on the internet.
6. Physical Development
Kindergarteners should establish a healthy lifestyle by ensuring physical activity at least three times a week for at least half an hour each day. They should also know basic safety rules and proper nutrition concepts.
7. Personal Responsibility
Kindergartners should be able to take responsibility for their actions and learn how to solve basic problems independently. They should also recognize the importance of respect, cooperation, honesty and integrity. Additionally, they should understand how to manage their own emotions as well as accept constructive criticism from others.
