Semi Truck Pre Trip Inspection Checklist

1. Tires and wheels:

Check tire pressure, and tread depth, and look for any signs of damage. Ensure all lug nuts are secure.

2. Brakes:

Examine brake pads, discs, and lines for wear and damage. Test the brake functionality.

3. Lights and signals:

Verify that all headlights, taillights, turn signals, and hazard lights are functioning correctly.

4. Fluid levels:

Inspect engine oil, transmission fluid, coolant, and windshield washer fluid levels.

5. Engine components:

Examine belts, and hoses, and check for any signs of oil or coolant leaks.

6. Steering mechanism:

Test the steering for excessive play and ensure it operates smoothly.

7. Suspension system:

Check shock absorbers, springs, and suspension components for wear or damage.

8. Fuel system:

Inspect fuel lines, tanks, and caps for leaks or loose connections.

9. Exhaust system:

Look for any holes or leaks in the exhaust system, including the muffler and pipes.

10. Cargo securement:

Ensure that the cargo is properly secured and within legal weight limits.
