1. Apply to graduate:
In order to apply to graduate, students will need to provide their school with their name and contact information. They will also need to indicate when they plan to graduate – either in the current semester or the next one. Some schools may also require a graduation application fee.
2. Order cap and gown:
Graduates will need to order a cap and gown through their school or through an online retailer. Gowns and caps come in a variety of colors, so students should choose what they want ahead of time.
3. RSVP for the graduation ceremony:
Students will need to RSVP for their graduation ceremony by indicating how many guests they will be bringing. This is usually done through the school’s website. Guests will need tickets in order to attend the ceremony.
4. Pick up tickets for guests:
Tickets for the graduation ceremony will be distributed after the RSVP process is completed. Students should receive an email notification about where and when they can pick up their tickets.
5. Confirm attendance with the school:
It is important for graduates to confirm their attendance with their school before the deadline. If they do not confirm, their spot in the ceremony may be given away to another student.
6. Arrange transportation to/from the ceremony:
Graduates will need to make arrangements for transportation to and from the ceremony venue. This can include taking public transportation, hiring a car service, or asking a friend or family member to drive them.
7. Have diploma and transcript sent to potential employers/schools:
After graduation, most students will want to send their diplomas and transcript to potential employers or schools that they are interested in attending. This can usually be done by contacting the school’s registrar's office.
8. Give notice to landlords if graduating in the middle of a lease term:
If a student is graduating in the middle of a lease term, they will need to give notice to their landlord that they will be moving out soon. This notice should include the date that the student plans on moving out
9. Clean out dorm room or apartment:
Students who are graduating will need to clean out their dorm rooms or apartment before leaving campus. This includes packing up all of their belongings and getting rid of any trash or unwanted items.
10. Say goodbye to your classmates and professors:
Before leaving campus, graduates should take the time to say goodbye to their classmates and professors. This is a good way to end their time at school on a positive note.
