1. Wayne Gretzky
Gretzky was the captain of the Edmonton Oilers for most of his career. He is considered one of the greatest hockey players of all time, and he holds numerous records including the most goals and points in a season.
2. Mark Messier
Messier played for the Oilers, Rangers, and Canucks during his career. He is a six-time Stanley Cup champion and is second on the all-time list for regular season points scored.
3. Steve Yzerman
Yzerman played his entire career with the Red Wings, winning three Stanley Cups. He was captain of the team for over 20 years, and is considered one of the best two-way forwards in NHL history.
4. Brett Hull
Hull played for the Flames, Blues, Stars, and Blackhawks during his career. He is the third leading goal scorer in NHL history and won the Hart Memorial Trophy as league MVP in 1990-91.
5. Pierre Turgeon
Turgeon was drafted first overall by the Sabres in 1987 and went on to play for six different teams. He scored over 500 goals in his NHL career and was a member of the 2002 Canadian Olympic team.
6. Adam Oates
Oates played for five different teams during his 19-year NHL career. He is second all-time in assists, and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2012.
7. Joe Sakic
Sakic spent his entire 20-year career with the Nordiques/Avalanche franchise, winning two Stanley Cups and scoring over 1600 points. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2013.
8. Doug Gilmour
Gilmour played for seven different teams during his 22-year NHL career. He is fifth on the all-time list for points scored in a season, and won the Frank J Selke Trophy as the best defensive forward in 1992-93.
9. Dale Hawerchuk
Hawerchuk was drafted first overall by the Jets in 1981 and spent 10 years with that team before moving on to play for four other teams. He is sixth all-time in points scored and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2001.
10. Guy Lafleur
Lafleur played for the Canadiens, Nordiques, and Rangers during his 17-year NHL career. He is a three-time Stanley Cup champion and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1988.
11. Patrick Roy
Roy played for the Canadiens and Avalanche during his career, winning four Stanley Cups. He is the NHL's all-time leader in wins, and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2006.
12. Ray Bourque
Bourque played for the Bruins and Avalanche during his 21-year NHL career. He is a five-time Norris Trophy winner as the league's best defenseman and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2004.
13. Mike Gartner
Gartner played for six different teams during his 20-year NHL career. He is seventh on the all-time list for goals scored and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2001.
14. Mario Lemieux
Lemieux played for the Penguins his entire 17-year NHL career. He is a two-time Stanley Cup champion and is widely considered one of the greatest players of all time. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1997.
15. Cam Neely
Neely played for the Canucks and Bruins during his 13-year NHL career. He is a member of the 50-goal club, and was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2005.
