1. Wipe down the sink, faucet, and countertop with a disinfectant cleaner:
It’s important to clean these areas daily because they are often touched by multiple people and can become breeding grounds for germs. Use a microfiber cloth or paper towels to wipe down the surfaces, making sure to get into all cracks and crevices. For a deeper clean, use an appropriate cleaner or disinfectant for the surfaces.
2. Clean the toilet bowl and seat using an appropriate cleaner:
Clean the toilet bowl with a brush, special cleaner, or disinfectant designed for toilets. Be sure to get into all the corners and crevices to ensure that it is thoroughly cleansed of any germs or bacteria. Clean the seat with either liquid soap and water or antibacterial wipes to remove any dirt, residue, or bacteria around edges of the seat.
3. Bleach or clean tub/shower area:
Use a bleach-based cleaning solution to sanitize the shower/tub and surrounding walls in order to remove any soap scum, mold, or mildew. Use an old toothbrush for scrubbing the harder-to-reach areas of the shower/tub and be sure to rinse off any leftover solutions.
4. Scrub bathtub, shower walls and doors if applicable:
Use a sponge or brush to scrub away any residue or dirt on the surfaces of the bathtub, shower walls, and door. Pay particular attention to corners where mold or mildew can grow. Rinse with clean water after you are done scrubbing all surfaces.
5. Mop floor to remove any dirt or debris:
Cleaning the bathroom floor should be done last as it will help to prevent dirt from being tracked around the room. Mop the floor with a mild cleaner and water, ensuring that all areas of the bathroom are well-covered. Allow the floor to air dry after completing this step.
6. Clean mirror(s) with glass cleaner:
Using a glass cleaner or vinegar and water solution, spray onto mirrors and wipe off with a cloth or paper towel. Be sure to get into any creases or cracks around edges of mirrors in order to remove any dust or dirt buildup.
7. Dust light fixtures and vents in the bathroom:
Dusting these surfaces regularly will help to prevent the buildup of dust and debris that can make it difficult for ventilation systems to function correctly. Use a duster or microfiber cloth to effectively clean these areas without causing any damage.
8. Empty the trash can and replace the liner bag as necessary:
Check the trash can to ensure that it is not overflowing and empty out any debris or liquid waste before replacing the liner bag. If there are solid items such as paper towels, food scraps, etc., dispose of these in an outside garbage receptacle.
9. Check for any signs of mold or mildew build-up in shower/bathroom corners:
Mold and mildew thrive in warm, damp environments so it’s important to regularly check for signs of their presence in bathrooms. If you spot any patches of dark discoloration or musty odors, use a bleach-based cleaner or anti-mold solution to clean the affected areas.
10. Sanitize all doorknobs with a sanitizer wipe:
Doorknobs can easily become breeding grounds for germs and bacteria, so it’s important to sanitize them regularly. Use a sanitizer wipe or diluted bleach solution (1 part bleach to 10 parts water) and apply liberally to all surfaces that come into contact with hands. Allow time for the solution to air dry before touching doorknob again.
