1. Deep Clean the Bathroom.
Deep cleaning the bathroom requires more thorough attention than a regular cleaning. Start by removing all items from shelves, vanity, and countertops and wiping them down with a soap and water solution or an appropriate cleaner for the surface material. Clean all surfaces of the tub, shower, and sink. Scrub away any mildew, dirt, or soap scum. Clean and disinfect the toilet bowl and seat. Wipe down all walls and floors with a damp cloth to remove dust and other particles.
2. Deep Clean the Kitchen.
In the kitchen, start by removing food from shelves both in cabinets and on countertops. Pay special attention to refrigerator coils if you have a standard fridge as these can get very dusty over time. Clean out your microwave inside and out, paying particular attention to the nooks and crannies where food may have splattered during use. Disinfect all surfaces such as countertops, backsplashes, stovetop, sink basin, etc., followed by wiping them down with a soft cloth or sponge. Mop all floors and scrub away any stubborn dirt or grease.
3. Deep Clean the Bedrooms.
In bedrooms, start by stripping bedding from all beds in the house and washing them according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Vacuum all carpets, paying special attention to areas below furniture where dust may have collected over time. Dust all surfaces, including window sills and frames, shelves, dressers, nightstands, etc. Wipe down mirrors with a damp cloth. Empty trash cans and mop floors if they are not carpeted.
4. Deep Clean Living Spaces.
Living spaces include living rooms and family rooms as well as dining rooms if you have them in your home. Start by vacuuming upholstered furniture and carpets with a HEPA-filter vacuum cleaner to remove any dust and allergens. Dust all surfaces, including bookcases, end tables, entertainment centers, etc., using a damp cloth. Mop any hard surface floors in these rooms.
5. Deep Clean the Garage, Yard, and Outdoor Spaces.
Garages and outdoor spaces need deep cleaning too! Sweep away cobwebs from the garage ceiling and walls then sweep the floor of debris. Power wash the exterior walls of your home as well as any outdoor patios or decks you have for a fresh look. If you have wood decking, clean it thoroughly with a wood cleaner designed for outdoor use to prevent splintering or discoloration over time.
6. Deep Clean Pet Stuff.
Finally, pet owners should deep clean all items associated with their pets, such as litter boxes, beds, cages and kennels. Wash bedding in hot water or replace it entirely if necessary. Vacuum out the inside of cages and kennels to remove any fur or debris that may have collected over time. Disinfect all litter boxes and wash them with a mild soap solution followed by warm water before refilling them with fresh litter.
