This is the official application form that must be completed and submitted to the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
2. Proof of Relationship:
Documentation confirming the legal relationship between petitioner and stepchild, such as a marriage certificate or adoption decree, must be provided.
3. Financial Support Affidavit:
The petitioner must provide proof of financial support to demonstrate their ability to provide for the stepchild if they are allowed entry into the United States.
4. Birth Certificates:
Certified copies of both the petitioner's and stepchild's birth certificates should be included in the package.
5. Passport Photos:
Two recent passport-style photographs for each individual must be included.
6. Evidence of Legal Entry into the United States:
Documentation, such as a valid visa or other travel documents, showing how the stepchild legally entered the US must be provided if applicable.
7. Immigration Status Documents:
If the stepchild is currently in legal immigration status, evidence of that status should be included.
